Okay, so the parents have finally brought up the age old question: What do you want for Christmas?
Almost every year I ask for the usual books, CDs, money, clothes, and gift cards, but usually I end up asking for something bigger. It's been a snowboard, digital camera, electric guitar, you know, whatever.
Now, I know I'm spoiled and well off and stuff. Thanks.
But I'm hurting here (not really). I was hoping to ask for some camera accessories. I finally have my camera (Canon Rebel XT or Ti or whatever) but I've been working with the kit lens and the attached flash (I know, real n00b of me).
My top priority right now is a flash. I really do simple and basic photography, nothing specific or specialized. I just need something to get started with.
So...

Flash:
Normal flash?
What kind?
Any specific brand?
How about a ring flash?
Too flashy, eh? (IhatemyselfIhatemyselfIhatemyself)

What about a lens. I might just get lucky enough to receive one of these from Santa. I was thinking macro.. Just 'cus I like macro photography... What about a multipurpose lens that's nice but still adds some variety to my pictures?

Any comments from anyone would be MUCH appreciated.
